About Codex Vita
Welcome to Codex Vita! I invite you to add us to your bookmarks, as you will want to return often for the truly unique content presented here. Yes, I realize that everyone claims that their website is unique so I don’t make that claim lightly. Let me provide you with a brief taste of what it is that makes us so unique – then you can be the judge!
Before I get into the content, let me just say that Codex Vita is brand spanking new as of February 1, 2015. Keep that in mind as you peruse the site. Although we are light on content today, that will change quickly as we charge into the future.
Codex Vita is a website about holistic living. I agree that does not sound extraordinary since there are plenty of websites that cover the topic in some way or another. However, we take a different approach! Codex Vita focuses on three core areas: body, mind, and spirit. Using those core areas, we integrate them into a way of living. Even better, we will be providing a blueprint on how you might follow these concepts in your own life.
In the BODY area, we focus on wellness, fitness, and nutrition. The discussions will range from cooking and eating healthy meals to working out. All with the intention of helping you to feel good about yourself.
In the MIND area, we will focus on gaining an understanding of who you are and how you want to evolve. Attitude is everything, and we will emphasize the power of positive thinking through meditation and other means.
In the SPIRIT area, we will explore why you are here and suggest ways to discover what your life purpose may be. Other critical topics include: the differences between religion and spirituality, The Law of Attraction, and how to manifest the life you desire.
One of the unique features of Codex Vita is that we will provide a blueprint for you to follow to bring your life into alignment with all of the concepts discussed. Of course, we are all unique individuals with unique needs, so the blueprint will act more as a guide that will allow you to focus on the precise areas that you feel are most appropriate to you. It is a flexible plan, not a rigid set of rules! Remember, it is all about you!!!
Much of what will be presented will come from my experiences and education, but from time to time we hope to have interviews with some very special people as well as guest authors. There will be book reviews and interesting links to other websites that support and enhance the principles expressed on Codex Vita.
The final and most important element in the journey comes from YOU! Your thoughts and experiences are wholeheartedly welcomed. Your feedback is the glue that binds it all together and so I encourage you to participate!
Thank you for visiting. My wish for you is a positive, life changing experience!

About Me
Hello! I'm Chuck Miller and I will be your host throughout your Codex Vita journey!
Codex Vita will touch on many subjects as it evolves and I think it might be helpful for you to know just a bit more about me. That way we can build the trust we will need for this journey. I want you to feel that I have the experience to suggest my opinions on the topics we will cover.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Please note that Pittsburgh has an ‘h’ at the end. It is the only “burgh” to have that distinction, and it is very important to someone like me that is a grammar and spelling fiend, not to mention being from Pittsburgh! Hailing from Pittsburgh, you will also understand why I speak with a funny accent when you hear me!
I’m the second oldest of five (four boys and a girl) in a typical middle class family in which both my Father and Mother worked. We never had a luxurious life, but we also never went hungry nor lacked the basic necessities.
I was raised Roman Catholic, but have no fear – Codex Vita is not about religion. We will have some interesting discussion on the subject of organized religion (much to the chagrin of the Catholic Church as well as other faiths). I also attended twelve years of Catholic school (not necessarily a bad thing). I mention this simply to provide perspective.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University with a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology and an MBA respectively. Throughout my thirty six year working life, I have worked as an engineer, a project manager, a department manager, and as a vice president. I am still employed full time today. It almost sounds like a great career, but there will be several posts covering work related issues. The only thing I will say now is that all is not always as it seems.
I have raised three wonderful children (boy – girl – boy), who have grown to become successful, productive adults. They are a constant joy for me!
I should mention that I am the primary caregiver for my ninety year old Mother. We may not always see eye to eye, but I thoroughly enjoy giving back that love that she shared with me as I was growing up!
I have also been married for many years and survived a failed marriage. This topic will be a series of very important posts as well.
I have had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the United States, as well as much of Western Europe and Japan. I loved the exposure to different cultures and perspectives.
Finally, I am a Vietnam War Era veteran, meaning I served in the military during the Vietnam conflict, but was never stationed in Vietnam.
I am not normally one to reveal so much information about myself, but in this case I am comfortable with it. First, I know that we are going to be friends. Second, revealing my background will hopefully bring some credibility to the posts that I will be writing. You will know that I have a valid basis for saying the things that I post on Codex Vita!
Thank you so much for your patience in reading this introduction. It is my sincerest wish that you enjoy Codex Vita and find it helpful. Please don’t be a stranger either – I would love to hear from you!
Chuck
